
I’m passionate about sound. I keep thinking of ways that make it fun for people to visualize it. In this particular dream of mine I envisaged a sound toy that would produce any sound in any language.
You could either type in a word (currently a transliterated Arabic name in English) and hear the proper pronunciation in the native language. But a free-form sandbox version of this could be a human phonetic articulator where you would play around with all the constituting elements on the human voice apparatus to test and hear sounds that you yourself might be able to make.
Computer speech synthesis is definitely getting to a point where it would be convincing enough to make that happen.
World languages are gradually being wiped out. This is a small way of not only preserving them but also activating them in a computerized system.
